All patients will be prepared for their surgery by an anaesthesia consultation.
The central scope of our anaesthesia are:
• Safety and analgesia during surgery
• Patient care at our ICU
In this pre-anaesthesia interview, we thoroughly inform our patients on different anaesthetic procedures and their possible risks. On the basis of the pre-anaesthesia questionnaire completed by you, we will discuss all issues regarding your health condition, relevant previous illnesses, allergies, etc.
It is necessary that the pre-anaesthesia interview takes place on the same day as the surgery. For this reason, we ask you to bring all your medical documents, lab results, x-rays and other previous examination results.
To optimize the preparation process of the anaesthesia, the Isar Medical Centre offers to all patients having an increased surgical risk (heart and lung conditions, neurological issues, already known narcosis problems, etc.) to present for anaesthetic consultation two to three weeks prior to the scheduled intervention.
After this interview it is possible to choose the type of anaesthesia that is best for you.
Instead of a general anaesthesia, a restriction of the narcosis to the surgical field only (regional anesthesia) might be enough – free of pain you stay awake or half asleep.
During surgery, we monitor and maintain your vital functions.
We, the team of consultants and the nursing staff will be with you for the whole duration of the narcosis until you are transferred back to your patient room.
